REMINDER: Community Meeting #2 – TONIGHT!

November 30, 2010 at 11:34 am 2 comments

Don’t forget the second Community Meeting for the Mid-Centretown Community Plan is being held tonight at Knox Presbyterian Church (120 Lisgar Street). The team will be on hand from 5:30pm, with a formal presentation at 6:30pm. Tonight’s Open House is about sharing with you with some of our emerging directions for the Community Design Plan on what the future of Mid-Centretown could look and feel like. We want to know your views on the vision, with a particular focus around such issues as mobility, community amenities, parks and public realm and intensification zones.

See you soon!

Thanks for the excellent presentations. It’s clear some really deep thinking has gone into how to balance all of the competing interests in this complex area, and how to position us to be proactive, rather than having Centretown shaped by OMB decisions.

The 3D visualisations are hugely powerful and although I asked about open data generally before, I’d like to ask specifically about the 3D models. Can they be released? It doesn’t matter what format, as long as it’s a standard 3D model format there is software to convert to desired target formats (the most likely one being to Google SketchUp models for use in Google Earth). I can understand that it may be outside your scope to submit the models to Google (see Google 3D Warehouse – FAQs) but as long as you release what you have with open licensing, I’m sure there are people in the community who would be happy to submit them on your behalf and credit you.

Hi Richard – glad that you thought that the session was successful. That is great to hear. Unfortunately we cannot release the CAD model. There may be other options though, and I encourage you to contact our lead designer, Eric, at eturcotte@urbanstrategies.com to discuss what your needs might be and if we can help in other ways.
